Cicada and Its Slough

07/13/2023 Thursday 70-95F Partly Cloudy

Last time when I saw cicada, it was the summer of many years ago which I spent in the countryside. One morning, surprisingly I found a green one on my shoe on the threshold. I shook it off onto my nearby abelia. Several days later, after taking off the burlap cover from my mock orange shrub, I happened to notice a cicada slough on the branch. Was this cicada's garment left by the one I released? Did it intend to tell me that it preferred mock orange to abelia?

The nickname of cicada in China is Zhi-liao, which means "I see". So, I see, I see, no more abelia for these guys.
