My Eggplants

We planted two asian eggplants this Spring. We watched them daily, feeling so happy to see them growing, flowering, and eventually fruiting. They were beautiful plants, I particularly liked their lovely pinkish purple blossoms.

Groundhogs, our most frequent and unwelcome visitors, bullied them the day before yesterday. Looked at these two poor little things, we decided to transplant them from the ground into pots and put them in the courtyard--Otherwise, except for the two eggplants which seemed to be already grown and yet touched by groundhogs, I couldn't expect any more harvest.

This morning we cut off the larger one of the two eggplants, planing to grill it along with salmon for dinner. Let's see how it will taste!
